OUTDATED. Config cause crashes in updated hawken. don't use it now, until i make a new version.
(конфиг устарел, и вызывает краши игры. не устанавливайте его после обновления хавкена, если использовали, удалите папку с конфигами из моих документов)

Okay Comrades! New configs is here. It was totally difference if compare with previous version. New config included all my previous expirience, to made it better and get rid of previous defects. New version is more stabile, have a less FPS drop in fight, and have a good visual. Also, it can be easily tweaking for your taste by changing only several parameters.
Here the 3 configs in total, based on one.
1) Soft config - Give you higher FPS and less FPS-drop in general. probably, best of three.
2) Plastic config - Also give you a high FPS, but it created for prevent hawken crashes. plastic config uses textures in extremely low resolution and not overflowing you memory. Use it if you hawken crashes very often. it have pros and cons, if compare with Soft config.
3) Hawken/Doom config - welcome back to 1993. (Attention! Doom config not created for higher FPS, it is just bring for you different visual expirience. it have enabled alot of effects like smoke and others)

 

Ok. Let's go, but first...Do not forget create a backup of your config, if it needed. you also can deleted all config files, and hawken create default config.

does this just make the game a plastic hawken?, How bad of a computer could i run hawken on with these settings. I have a macbook late 2009 with 4gb ram so if i bootcamp it to run windows i might be able to play hawken on it : )

Points not only in how old PC you use. It just working better. Less crashes, less overload to your PC, less FPS drop. You also have a better vision and clearly see what going on. Now it is also less sticky walls :)

My PC not so old for hawken, and I actually can play on low settings, but playing with config just more comfortable for me.

I'm still trying to find a way how disable shaders =(

My PC not so old for hawken, and I actually can play on low settings, but playing with config just more comfortable for me.
 

 

But what about the 'splosions

it is related with smoke, so...
actually, you no need explosions to play, because you should evade rockets to not recieve a damage from TOW. if you see explosion in your face, you already get damage.
you also can see and detonate your rocket, you no need to see where it explosed. it is just an animation.

and actually you see a very small and square explosion :D

imagine high detail explosions in this plastic hawken, it would look out of place :))))))

for people who want return explosions (but you return smoke too. actually if you play on Reaper, you no need to see explosions, and if you play with TOW, smoke is not a problem for you :D)

find "TextureSettingsUltra"
and change

or higher. 256, 512, etc.

 

 

you can tweak many game parameters if change numbers since 1 to 64,128,256,512...
but remember, than higher value you use, than less FPS you have.

 

but if you decreased these lines, you can ruined map geopmetry and some maps will be unplayble. 256 and 384 - it is a minimal value for these parameters.

Okey so here is the thing. Im running slower computer and tried this one and it faild me badly;]. First of i use win7, none of my files start with Hawken name they are: "DefaultSystemSettings.ini" instead of "HawkenSystemSettings.ini".  

Well i changed all the things you listed and got a crash on my hawken:(. Any idea how to work it out?

DefaultSystemSettings.ini

 

it is a standart game file, i recommended not change it.

you can found it (for exmple) in
D:/games/Hawken/Config (or very similar path of installed hawken game)

and also the other standart defaults configs, you shouldn't change these configs. if you change these configs you probably can kill the game :P

you need find configs in "C:/My documents/My games/Hawken/Config", it is a different path on your disk "C:/".

 

 

actually, if someone use win7,8 or 10, you can inform me about configs path, i will thank you, and upgraded info/instruction in first post (because i have only XP :3)

 

 

 

also, if you find correct *.ini files, you can try copy text from my files, and replace it in your files by hand (ctrl+c / ctrl+v), it may help.

will be good if you use the same method

- change HawkenSystemSettings.ini
- Launch Hawken
- wait, it is crashes or no?
- if no. change HawkenEngine.ini

- Launch Hawken
- wait, it is crashes or no?

- if no. change HawkenLightmass.ini (it not very need for fps actually)
- Launch Hawken
- wait, it is crashes or no?

it can help if some command in one *.ini file can be incompatible with your PC

Im tired of explaining this so ill just put this here;

 

1) Find HawkenInput.ini (C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\Hawken\HawkenGame\Config)

 

2) Find [HawkenGame.R_PlayerInput]

 

and under it

 

Bindings=(Name="GBA_AnimatedTaunt",Command="AnimatedTaunt | onrelease EndAnimatedTaunt",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

 

and change it into

 

Bindings=(Name="GBA_AnimatedTaunt",Command="StopFire | OnRelease StartFire",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

 

also create this bind

 

Bindings=(Name="J",Command="AnimatedTaunt | onrelease EndAnimatedTaunt",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

 

Now taunt works normally when you press J. Changing between normal / reversed fire happens in in-game options menu. Bind left mouse button to taunt whenever you want to use chargeable weapons / change it back to normal when not using these weapons. Otherwise you will be shooting constantly.

 

EDIT; make sure to either add changes to end of that section or remove duplicate binds. If 2 binds for same key exist, later one will override earlier. Same goes for aliases.

Made another fuzzy bunny paste mistake in earlier post, fixed that. (taunt didnt work earlier since commands for that bind were for shooting instead >.> )

Thanks for that charged weapon script,will try it tonight after work,my predator is already in  :wub:  .The only thing i will have to change before using a non charged weapon is a binding right?

Fyi Nepa or for anyone of that matter, if your running an AMD GPU, download MSi Afterburner or open Catalyst Control Center. In Afterburner, click and drag the slider for "Power Limit (%)" from 0% to +20%, for Catalyst Control Center, open the Performance tab, enable AMD Overdrive agree to the terms, enable Graphics Overdrive, then navigate to Graphics Overdrive at the top of the Performance tab, check the Enable Graphics Overdrive box and then mainly dial up the Power Limit Setting box to 20%.

 

This essentially shifts the GPU P-State settings for factory overclocked cards. With a -20% setting it underclocks the card to save power/heat but you loose fps, at 0%(neutral), it runs the card within AMD standardized limits so even if your card come factory OC'd at 1100~1200, at 0% it runs at whatever AMD reference cards run at. Finally at +20% it lets your card run at full speed + whatever it can squeeze out extra, it lets the card use more power but at an obvious increase in fps.

 

Did some small testing with your profile and with an R9 270X with Vsync off it was getting 55~60 with your profile at 0% power for test #1, then test #2 your profile+ the power limit boost 75~80fps, then on final test #3 on -20% power same profile as yours, the card was getting 28~40fps.

 

Just a small test I ran to help those using your profile while still getting shaky performance at least on the AMD side. I don't got any Nvidia GPUs so I can't test the effects of the Adaptive Power Management settings.

Some people have carpal tunnel and other similar problems that make holding LMB hard for them.

Yup, its not script. And what is in the game is in the game. It doesnt really make you play better or anything, and if you have already used to holding down it will even be harder to use at start until you get used to it. Besides, with this my finger doesnt hurt after one match like it would normally.

overiding the charged weapons because you are incapable or unwilling to learn how to use them as intended is an admission that you aren't able to conduct yourself in a fair contest of skill with players that would never require such low skilless methods. I would maintain that bads doing this are among the least skilled players in Hawken.

Most players would agree that it's at the very least, a little sad that there's players considering using this.

It's one step below aim assist on the stairway to everskrubdom.

Who are you to complain about dev`s choices. Besides, games have been tweaked ever since games existed. It is in the game and if devs were to think its bad, they would remove it. Also pretty much every fps game has something similar.

 

Do you also complain other playing having unfair advantage because he or she has better pc?

i have a 2000-2200 mmr, and probably it is my mmr-range limit.

 

i use old genius ball mouse which cost 2$. i buy it more than 10 years ago. And my aim is Extremely bad (really bad. 30% with Flak, i even missed when use shotguns. lol).

I have 60% aim on Heat cannon without "script". and i have 60% aim with autocharge (because i can't play better). my skill not changes. just right now this weapon easy to use for me, but it doesn't make heat-cannon stronger. i'm still miss when i trying to shoot in flying targets.

 

this auto-charge don't make me stronger. just weapon now is very fun to use. it is some sort of thing which hawken should have, and it is just make "normal".

 

Why no one complain when devs delete walking acceleration? or when devs delete fuel from dodge?
Why nobody complain when devs delete dynamical weapon spread? weapon spread making use of weapons more difficult too.

In Ascension patch - the game is changed. hitscan weapons changed. Air-combat, Walking,
vertical aiming angle, dodges changed.
All changed! But not heat-cannon. why?

I think it is time to have "Ascension version of heat-cannon"

Version 3.3 is arrived. Updated HawkenEngine.ini and HawkenSystemSettings.ini

i trying to make less FPS drop, but have no idea it is better or not. in theory it should be better, cuz i disable many things, texture streaming was changed and returning to default method (i think it working better if you have only 2Gb ram).
also, some potencially positive changes in HawSysSet.ini

Let me know if you have/find a problem, or FPS will be less/worse drop for you than before.

i tried this on a computer with: Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Processor: 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB. Still only getting 10-15 frames* but was fun to try. (*this was with your 3.2 version, ill have to try with the 3.3)

in 3.3 i return standart texture streaming.
logic is here
with texture streaming you have more fps, but more fps-drop

without texture streaming u need a lot of memory, game loading longer, but you have less fps drop. (i think it working worse when you have 2Gb ram and 1Gb videocard)

actually, i have a some tests on my PC, and result look like it is hawken problem, not config.

high settings, medium textures. 200+ fps in hangar. 130 fps in exploration mode. 90 fps in fight. fps drop to 30-40 if u see many objects in one place.

with config, disabled all (i mean - ALL!). 300+ fps in hangar. 180 fps in exploration mode. 90 fps in fight. fps drop to 40-60 if u see many objects in one place.

also, interesting thing, that even if hawken show drop to 40 fps, visually i don't see any lags...

it is actually don't have to much difference with config or no.
Config just help if you game crashes on some maps. And yes, you PC have a lower "heat" =/

it is actually don't have to much difference with config or no.

At this point, a 10 frame difference is everything because im getting about 20 in the garage

i'm obviously talking about my own PC. i mean, for me no difference to play with config, or play without config. i just use config to decrease lags, crashes, and heat to videocard/gpu. i actually can play without config (except lostEco, lol. ;D)

5) find "MinPreShadowResolution=16" and change it to "MinPreShadowResolution=0" (this make shadows more inacurate and darken, but disabling this option increase my fps in hangar from 200 to 300)

6) also, decrease screen resolution can be very helpful. i mean, if you use very high (1920x1080 for example) try lower it.

now averaging 20 fps in game and 20 in the garage, before had much less in game so i can at least tech ok. Not bad for a bootcamp MacBook late 2009 with 256mb of graphics ram.

also, have a question. without config hawken working good on LostEco on you 256mb Mac? i mean, lostEco is loading without error?

 

and please, tell me you PC (or it is notebook?) configuration (i mean, gpu/ram/videocard name), and which operation system you use. win or unix? 32 or 64?

 

edit: oh, maxajcd, i also forgot tell you, trying to acivate Vsync in game menu and text hawken with it, it should divided load between gpu and video card. (as i know)

I took this macbook (Laptop) and installed a 64 bit version of windows 7 professional.

I got LastEco to work at around 17 fps. I will also try the V-Sync trick. I can play vulcan assault and tech not too bad, but mechs like SS are not playable

But is there any way I can make it look less plastic?  I don't need a lot of terrain detail, so I'd like it to be less than low, but more than solid colors.  The cockpit, it's a bit more important that it doesn't just punch my eyeballs with a solid color.  The lightmaps, skybox, etc I'm leaving as you set them.  It gives the game a very N64 vibe that I'm enjoying!   :tongue:

 

I don't mind figuring out the exact values myself, but I already tried adjusting LOD values to 128 in SystemSettings, and as far as I can tell, there's no difference.  :sweat:

new version should be better, and possible will have a textures, and +/- the same FPS

edit. fixed mistake in
FLightPrimitiveInteractionInitialBlockSize=512
FModShadowPrimitiveInteractionInitialBlockSize=512
it is now 512 because it better for 4Gb PC

use 256 if you have 2Gb
and use 1024 if you have 8Gb and 64bit Windows
